The Power They Borrowed, The Leader I Became

For years, I poured my wisdom, strategy, and insight into others, watching them rise, build, and thrive—all while I stood in the shadows, being told at one point that I would make a "great number two." It was a compliment wrapped in a quiet dismissal, a ceiling disguised as a doorway. The irony? The very people who underestimated my ability to lead were often the same ones benefiting from my expertise. They sought my counsel, leaned on my guidance, and walked away empowered, never questioning whether I was capable of standing in the front. I had been orchestrating transformations, shifting mindsets, and redirecting trajectories—yet, somehow, I was still expected to remain behind the curtain. Let me be real with you, it was comfortable and safe behind the curtain.

But here’s the truth: I was never a number two and I knew it. I could hide behind that statement and use it as my silent justification for not stepping into my purpose. I was a builder, a strategist, a leader before I ever gave myself permission to claim the title. What they failed to see was the relentless work happening behind the scenes

—the late nights studying, the investments in education, the sacrifices that refined my craft. They saw my generosity but overlooked my brilliance. They praised my ability to support but ignored my potential to spearhead. And for a while, I played along, convincing myself that my role was to uplift others, that leadership wasn’t about being seen, but about making an impact. Yet, even as I remained in the background, my influence was undeniable. The ripple effect of my work was felt in every mentee who leveled up, every professional who shifted from stuck to unstoppable, every life that transformed because of a conversation, a strategy, a push that I provided.

So, here I am. Freedom to Flourish isn’t just a coaching program—it’s a declaration. A reclamation. A space where leadership is not assigned, but embodied. A space where women who have been told to “wait their turn” finally take their place. I’m no longer waiting for permission, and I won’t let you either. Because I know what it feels like to have your power recognized but not respected, to be acknowledged but not valued. And I know, without a doubt, that you were meant for more. You are not a supporting role in your own life. You are the main character, the architect of your next level, and the force behind your own transformation.

The only question left is: Are you ready to step into it?
